Organisers of Bristol’s BIG Green Week in June promised a festival of fun today, as the first of a limited edition of ‘Green Pass’ wristbands went on sale.
The Green Pass gives festival visitors advanced booking for events, up to 20% reductions on tickets, and discounts at a range of local cafes, restaurants, and hotels during BIG Green Week.
A Bristol trio of carnival musicians marked the launch of the Green Passes at Colston Hall, the headquarters for the nine day festival, which takes place between 9 -17 June 2012.
BIG Green Week celebrates Bristol’s role as an innovative sustainable city, and includes a packed programme of events with speakers, art, culture and entertainment.
BIG Green Week curator, Paul Rainger, said:
“We have a packed exciting programme of inspirational art, culture, music, film and comedy lined up for June, as well as top speakers and two family fun weekends with Bristol’s biggest market, an electric bicycle extravaganza, and the Festival of Nature, Europe’s largest free natural history festival.
“The Green Pass is the best way to enjoy all this, providing fantastic discounts on tickets, food, drink and accommodation throughout BIG Green Week.”
Supporting the festival, Cllr Barbara Janke, the leader of Bristol City Council said:
“BIG Green Week is shaping up to be a must attend festival for anyone with any interest in the environment. It already has a fantastic line up of world-class guest speakers and a wide-ranging programme of events in place, which is constantly expanding. Buying the green pass in advance guarantees the holder special access to events as well as many additional discounts and keeps them up to date on the programme as the week gets nearer.”
Green Passes, priced £10, can be purchased from Thursday 1March via the BIG Green Week website at www.biggreenweek.com.
