In what is a ground-breaking move for an SME in the waste sector, O’Donovan Waste Disposal have introduced and completed the implementation of an internal wellbeing strategy called the ‘Dynamo Welfare Project’ (Dynamo), continuing their commitment to prioritising the workplace wellness of their 165 employees alongside their physical safety. This huge investment in terms of time and money strengthens the companies unique pledge to staff development and the delivery of the highest standard to clients. The multi award-winning family-run waste management business is widely regarded as an innovator and a champion for health and safety, training and environmental excellence.

  • PDF

The Aegean Cargo Sailing celebrates its third year in Summer 2019 with several sailboats manned by participating members crews and many friends of the environment carrying cargoes of local ecological produce between the islands.

We will expand from the previous two summer tours of 2017, when we covered six islands, and 2018 when we made 18 island trips in a single sailboat. In 2019 we will have a number of sailboats carrying healthy, unique, local eco products from Aegean island producers to selected eco minded stores on different islands. In the two previous summers we have found, dozens of producers and products that clearly belong to the sustainable economy: honey, wine, olive oil, soap, dry fruit, aromatic plants, cheese, mastiha, fish in various long shelf life forms, dried fruit, fruit jams and others. We have now received requests for the transport of these products to other islands so that tourists can enjoy a wider variety of ecological island products than is available on their vacation island.

Volume reduction strategy reaps cost, space and environmental savings for automotive firm

  • PDF

Sanoh UK Manufacturing has invested in new shredding technology that will pay for itself in less than 18 months, due to the cost savings it will achieve for the wider business.

The company invested in an UNTHA RS40 shredder to tackle the surplus metal it generates during the production of brake and fuel pipes for the automotive industry. These component parts must be formed into specific shapes to suit the ergonomics of different vehicles, which naturally creates ‘offcuts’ of extremely obscure shapes.
